History

Take one bottle McEwan's Scotch Ale and one bottle Ten-Penny Old Stock Ale (if you can find it), and a clean tall beer glass. Depending on your preference, pour some of one bottle into the glass and top up with some of the other bottle. Ten-Penny drinkers put it in first, filling up more than half the glass, and then "darken it up" by topping the last 1/4-1/3 of the glass with McEwan's. Or you can start with McEwan's and "lighten it up" by topping glass with Ten-Penny. Either way, you got yourself a "Rusty Volvo", best drunk at the old in Halifax, belly-up to the bar and hashing over some recent problem regarding your own rusty Volvo with bartender extraordinaire Kenny Silver who created this drink out of love and respect for his own rusty Volvo and these two great ales.
