The Aviation

A classic but hard to make cocktail

Ingredients [ oz | cl ][ My Bar ]
2 oz Gin[ Add ]
12 oz Maraschino Liqueur[ Add ]
14 oz Crème de violette[ Add ]
12 oz Lemon Juice[ Add ]
Method: On the rocks
Glass: Cocktail
  1. Shake all ingredient with ice in a shaker.
  2. Strain in a cocktail glass.
  3. Decorate with a Maraschino cherry

Volume: 3.2 oz

According to Wikipedia:
The Aviation was created by Hugo Ensslin, head bartender at the Hotel Wallick in New York, in the early twentieth century.

Many later bartenders leave out the difficult-to-find violet liqueur.
